-- After watching and recording the one-loft race results I have come to the conclusion that it is very much like betting in Las Vegas!

-- The "Big Boys' -- the ones that are selling huge amounts of speed birds with ridiculously high prices are entering dozens of birds -- upwards of 30-50- birds!

-- I have watched some one-loft race handlers do such a poor job in handling that I have been absolutely flabbergasted!. When there is more than about 70-80 birds in a loft they do not "route" very good. In fact with 70-80- birds the big bunch will usually break up into smaller groups to route. The birds MUST route and get a good look at the surrounding countyside before serious training begins. If they do not route correctly tossing can be a huge disaster! It is amazing that these big one-loft race programs do not have adequate handlers!

-- It is money, money and always money, The birds are always secondary.

-- In one big one - loft race there were over 700 entries - yes 700 entries and this huge race had a hefty $1000.00 entry fee.

-- The training started out at about 3 miles and steadily worked up a few miles at a time and the losses were unbelievable!.

--The losses in this big money race was nearly 90 percent!

-- I rang the bell! And this loss rate was not rare -- it is the normal run- of- things in one-loft races! I started to note these huge losses in my writings and I was told to

-- STAND DOWN - STOP IT. This actually happened. The "MEDIA" said that PETA  would get a hold of these great losses and there would be trouble!

--  And now what is going to happen? If the general racing pigeon public is not informed of what is going on then ONLY THE BIG SHIPPERS WITH SPEED BIRDS ARE GOING TO GET THE PUBLICITY!

-- So the losses will continue with the small racing pigeon fancier getting the raw end of the deal!

- The big shippers will continue to sell birds at enormous prices .

-- A SPEED bird will be lost immediately because THE SPEED BIRD HAS LITTLE OR NO HOMING INSTINCT AND WILL BE LOST IN THE FIRST TOSSES!

--AND MANY OF THESE HUGE ONE-LOFT RACES HAVE A 350 AND 400 MILERS IN THEM -- only a DISTANCE BIRD will survive THESE RACES!!

-- UNLESS OF COURSE YOU ENTER 30-50 "SPEED" BIRDS

-- AND WITH 30-50 BIRDS YOU WILL PROBABLY GET ONE!

AND HOW DO YOU GET AROUND THIS PROBLEM? ..................................YOU MUST GET SOME "DISTANCE BLOOD"
INTO YOUR FAMILY OF BIRDS!  --- AN OLD TIMER BY THE NAME OF PAUL SION ONCE SAID YOU NEED '1/4 DISTANCE BLOOD TO PERFORM IN DISTANCE OR TOUGH RACES!' ...
